History The Château was built 1709 by the first president of the burgundy parliament on the foundations of an old cistercian abbey. It is located in the close neighbourhood of the famous Château Clos de Vougeot and surrounded by numerous world-known wine-growing regions. From the beginning, the Château has been in the focal point of burgundy history, as it was seat of numerous important personalities from politics and nobility. Monks of the cistercians have cultivated the land and kept their possessions here until the French revolution. Therefore, they have a place of honour in the own wine museum which has been installed in the old venerable vaulted cellar roof. |
